As a Met Lab Technician, you will perform a variety of functions to improve the quality of our products by carrying out advanced analysis projects.

Our positions are full time, year-around employment with paid training. We offer:

Shift & Hours:

2nd - Monday through Friday 2pm-10:30pm   $19.00 + $0.75 shift differential

Job Duties/Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to)

  • Perform duties that require special, complex, and highly specialized technical tasks (metallography and metrology) carried out on a variety of applications, in accordance with directives and general procedures.
  • Evaluate, develop, and fine-tune new inspection methods applicable to your specialty.
  • Determine the equipment requirements, and draw up the appropriate procedures
  • Provide technical assistance to the lower levels and coordinate their activity. 
  • Develop general technical results, analyze them, and prepare them for statistical analysis. 
  • Discuss any technical problems with the suppliers or departments concerned. 
  • Participate in solving them and perform a quality assurance role in your specialist area. 
  • Ensure the quality and compliance of the equipment and materials received. 
  • Carry out partial multi-tasking in several areas related to your specialty

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

LANGUAGE SKILLS  

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS  

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous metallurgical experience
  • Good technical and mechanical aptitude
